Why We Deleted dogart.com

Dogart.com was a consumer app that we decided to delete from the internet. It was a side project for our Director Rob Gregory, but it made no money so had to go.

The dogart.com project was a side project conceived by our Director Rob Gregory It was conceived at a time when generative image models were improving at pace. The opportunity to create a way for users to train a custom AI model of their pet dog was strong and the results were great.

However, the project was only every envisaged as a short-term one.

With the rapid advances in AI and the pace of change in the market, it became clear that while our offering was strong, consumers could now access countless free or low-cost AI services to generate similar outputs. That’s not a problem – at Magnifica we’re focused on action and impact. So, we made the decision to close down DogArt.com and redirect our energy into projects with greater long-term value and profitability.

As technology experts the project had the secondary goal of allowing us to learn about building web applications that leveraged AI on a live commercial project. We know have a deep understanding of building custom trained models and curating prompts that generated quality outputs. We take these skills into our projects with customers.
